Teaching offers perhaps the most rewarding experiences of my quilting journey. It offers the opportunity to share my passion with others who are equally committed and passionate about the craft and how they practice it.
My Lectures spring from my experiences -- getting started (Stepping Up to the Challenge), my trials and tribulations in learning new techniques, all the while meeting new and exciting people and visiting new places (My Quilting Journey); becoming a quilt show judge and savoring the diversity and creativity in quilt shows everywhere (What Makes a Winner); and developing the specialty I've come to love (Say It With Flowers -- my signature presentation).
Workshops and seminars are even more rewarding for me, because they let me get to know the wonderful people who share my craft. In the course of all the workshops I've taught, I've |

made countless and lasting friends and learned as much from them as I've taught them during the course of the workshop. ("Seminars" for me combine some lecture material with practical student application.)
My workshops (including seminars) come in three sizes: 1/2-Day and Full-Day Sessions and what I call "Intensive Therapy", the first two designed around floral sculpture techniques, areas of general interest, and other facets of the floral sculptor's art form. The length of time for the session is dictated by the time it takes me to cover the subject and for students to complete (or virtually complete) their work. (This is based on experience offering these sessions around the country.)
The latter category provides for in-depth coverage of the subject for the serious student; using a specific project as the teaching vehicle. |
