1/2 Day Sessions |
|
| |
Workshops and seminars are typically 3 to 6 hours in length... morning and/or afternoon. Two or more of the 1/2-day sessions can be combined for a full-day or longer session -- for example, 'Tricks of the Trade' can be combined with other workshops in which the 'tricks' can be applied. Click on the workshop title bars (in blue) for details on each workshop, and explore the offerings for yourself:

Full Day Sessions |
|
| |
Some subjects, frankly, take more time and effort; and I do these in a full-day session. Workshop 10, for example -- PDQ Flowers -- provides an opportunity for students to put all the pieces together with a very simplified project, but requiring a full day and using a kit to conserve student time. Workshops 11 and 12, Armchair and Machine Flowers, respectively, are all about technique in fabricating flowers in various ways -- by hand or by machine, although they do not delve into the short-cuts and other timesavers I use to produce a finished quilt. Nor do they go into design considerations in creating a finished product. (This is addressed in workshops described above or in the "Intensive Therapy" section below). Workshop 13 -- What Judges Look for-- is often scheduled after a quilt show judging so entrants can hear from the horse's mouth so to speak how their work was evaluated. It is also sometimes given as a standalone for guilds.) Finally, Workshop 14 -- the Quilt Judges' Training Seminar -- is offered to those seriously interested in becoming judges themselves. It is comprehensive in coverage and has been used in conjunction with experience requirements in some national and state organizations as a basis for judging certification. |

Intensive Therapy |
|
| |
For those interested in having it all in one intensive workshop, I offer "Intensive" -- or "Immersion", if you prefer -- Therapy.... Workshops that combine the whole ball of wax in floral sculpture creativity, design, fabrication techniques, and projects followed-through-to-completion. These take at least a full day, and sometimes a day and a half to two days.
I know that workshops based on patterns are often dismissed as all-too-commonplace or boring -- I do it too! But, in this case, I use one of my patterns (sponsor's choice) as a teaching vehicle -- provided to students at wholesale price in lieu of a kit -- to deliver a comprehensive workshop for students who are at least intermediate quilters, and who want to share my passion for this exciting, 3 dimensional art form. So, please don't dismiss these offerings out of hand. They are the 'real me'! |
