Long, slender and graceful are the hallmarks of the Bird of Paradise, a flower I discovered when asked to teach a class in Pompano Beach, Florida. They are shown in a slender padded vase on a variegated, pre-quilted background.

I have tried in this wall hanging to create a realistic flower sculpted from various colors and prints. I think it has met that objective, becoming one of my very favorites in the process.

The beauty of this wall hanging is found in the creativity it requires in its construction; and in the stately grace of the flower itself..
