I developed the first of my Wallflowers collection patterns -- Colorado Columbine -- as a labor of love. The patterns and the art form they embody have since become my passion.
I do in fact love creating floral sculpture and using it to add a third dimension to my quilts. I also love the creativity involved in finding ways to mirror the beauty nature brings to our lives in so many ways, but particularly in the boundless numbers and types of flowers that blossom all over the world.
3-dimensional, floral sculpture used as an appliqué adds realism, texture and interest to quilts, clothing, and countless other projects. And the time spent in creating each flower leads to ideas for new floral types, bringing with success an immense sense of achievement. Projects are fairly easy; but most take patience and time.
For this reason, I have attempted to assign ease of fabrication ratings to each pattern on each of the linked pages using a scale of "Easier", Moderate" and "Advanced". Please don't let these ratings throw you. But, if you're new to floral sculpture and 3-D appliqué, it might pay to work your way up to the more advanced designs.
But, most of all, have fun!
