The wall hanging consists of an artful array of three- dimensional Colorado columbines in various sizes, all appliquéd to a pre-quilted background. These unique fabric-sculpture flowers are appliquéd in place on variable-width stems, each with dimensional leaves which add realism and depth to the piece.

The 3D Columbine (shown in the inset on the pattern cover) is the state flower of Colorado; and the wall hanging was created originally as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999. Since then, the 3D Columbine has become my signature piece in three-dimensional floral appliqué.
